The TransMongolian Express part 3: The Train ride to Siberia!

(Photo: Me at a train stop with an old Trans-Siberian Express Locomotive)

Hi everyone,

The Train Trip to Irkutsk in Siberia, Russia had finally started! This track is a part of the Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian Express. It is a route which is one of the longest and most famous train routes in the world, in the past used by locals to travel around when they still had a steam locomotive – and nowadays the trains are a bit more modern and still used by locals because not every city is easy to reach, and by a lot of tourists of course. The TransMongolian Express part 2 – One day in Moscow

(Photo: Kievskaya metro station in Moscow)

Hi everyone!

On a saturday night at 23:55 pm I took the night train from Saint Petersburg to Moscow. This is one of the most important train routes (thats why it is train 001) in Russia, during the night, the train ride takes a little bit more time, and took me in 8 hours to Moscow. This is a quite luxury train with a first class (which we also booked), and has two (already made up) beds which you only have to fold out, in each compartment and free breakfast, water etc. In a train you cannot shower but I was all prepared for it because later on I had to spend 4 whole days in a train without a shower. Thats why I brought different kind of wet towels en wash cloths with me. The ride was quite bumpy and I did not sleep very well as you have to get used to the motion and the sounds of the train. The next morning around 6 am we arrived at the train station of Moscow. (All pictures are taken by me, nothing is sponsored, scroll down for the Dutch version with different photos).

The TransMongolian Express Part 1 – Saint Petersburg

(Photo: Me at the Church on Savior and Blood)

Hi Everyone!!

My Transmongolian Express trip and holidays had finally started when me and my boyfriend flew from Amsterdam to Saint Petersburg on a thursday afternoon within just 2 hours and 15 minutes. Quite fast! After picking up the luggage I had to arrange a taxi to my hotel.
There are a lot of illegal taxi drivers offering their services at the airport. I decided to take the official (and legal) taxi at the taxi stand which is very cheap as well. Our hotel was located at the big and most famous street of St. Petersburg called the Nesky Prospekt. At the Nevsky Prospekt street you find almost all the famous churches and buildings of St. Petersburg – if not, they are close by. The Japanese Treasures of Kyoto

(Photo: 3 Japanese girls in traditional clothing)

Hi everyone,

A city which really impressed me is Kyoto. Compared to Osaka and Tokyo (the other cities which are recommendable in Japan to visit – I did not visit yet)- Kyoto has something magical and mysterious at the same time. If you stay in Osaka, it is really easy to visit Kyoto. It is just half an hour / maybe 40 minutes by train. (nothing is sponsored – all pictures are taken by me – Prefer this story in the Dutch language? Just scroll down and see different photos as well!)

Where to Eat & Drink in Capetown

(Photo: View during wine tasting in Stellenbosch)

Hi everyone!

As some of you know; my favorite destination in the whole world is Capetown. I like to go there at least once a year preferably for holidays, but the layovers for work are also very welcome. As I know Capetown well enough now, I have my favorite places I like to visit every time I’m back. Thereby – I get the question quite often where to go / eat / drink or do a wine tasting – So let’s write it down in a new blogpost! As Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are not that far away from Capetown I will mention my favorite spots over there as well. (all photos are taken by me, nothing is sponsored)

Vibrant & Surprising Singapore – The To Do List!

(Photo: Supertrees & Marina Bay Sands Hotel)

Hi everyone,

I love Singapore layovers! The city is clean, structured and safe, the locals are friendly and I love Asian food and the Singapore nightlife. Fun fact; Singapore was my first intercontinental flight operating as a flight attendant ever. Are you planning a trip to Singapore? Here are my favorite (not in a specific order- sometimes a little bit touristic) things to do! (nothing is sponsored – all pictures are taken by me)

The Cote D’ Azur hotspot!

(photo: Anjuna Beach club, Eze beach, Cote d’ Azur – taken by me)

Hi everyone,

As I was on a small trip to Nice and Monaco and wanted to go to a cool spot where you really see some real-deal Monaco lifestyle going on. We were lucky the Anjuna Beach Club at Eze beach between Nice and Monaco still had a table available, because during weekends all tables are mostly fully booked.

The Countryside of China – Karst mountains & Yangshuo

(photo: Yangshuo bamboo boat & Karstmountains)

Hi everyone,

This year I was lucky – I got a ‘spontaneously 6-day layover’ in Xiamen on my roster. Perfect  to head out for a trip to Guilin & Yangshuo, the countryside of China where the famous Karst mountains are located. This area is mostly known for it’s karst landscapes and impressive nature – and is a must do if you are traveling in China! I’ve been to different places in China (mostly cities), and I must say the vibe around this area feels different in a good way. (all pictures are taken by me – nothing is sponsored)

The Nature of Namibia

Hi everyone,

During my trips I visited a lot of photogenic spots all over the world. On of them is the Sossusvlei and Deadvlei in Namibia, Located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Namibia is located in Africa, (at the left-side) above South Africa and it has many different landscapes. De sossusvlei is part of the Namib desert and known about it’s red dunes. We planned this particular area at the end of our 2 week trip across the country, so we drove a lot already in a big 4W drive. (All pictures in this blogpost are taken by me – nothing is sponsored)

A speeddate with the Taj Mahal

(photo: me at the Taj Mahal)

Hi Everyone,

The last time I had a quick stopover in Delhi (for just 24 hours) I decided with one of my colleagues to visit the Taj Mahal. This is quite a crazy plan because a one way drive takes already 3 hours and everything was arranged (driver + guide) just an hour before te flight left. That did not stop us from marking off this bucket list thing. Because really? What do you want to see from the world? I guess the only right answer is everything! (Ok maybe not e-ve-ry-thing but all the nice stuff – yes). And the very famous Taj Mahal is included as well if we talk about my wish-list. (All photo’s on this blog are my very own pictures – nothing is sponsored)
